Insurer wins arson appeal

In a judgment 14 June 2011 the Court of Appeal allowed an appeal by AMI Insurance and decided that Paul Devcich had set fire to his house at 2/14 Coronation Road, Epsom on 24 April 2009 and his claim under an insurance policy should be dismissed.  The Court of Appeal decided that the facts found by Lang J strongly suggested that Mr Devcich was responsible for the setting the fire and Lang J was wrong to decide that Mr Devcich was entitled to indemnity uner his policy.
