The Government’s Financial Assistance Package for leaky home owners will shortly be operational. The package enables owners of eligible leaky homes to obtain a contribution from the Crown and Council to the costs to repair the leaky home. The Crown pays 25% and where the Council was involved in the certification of the home it is also liable for 25%. Participation in the leaky home package is voluntary. Owners can opt out right up until they receive their first payment for repair costs. Information sheets about the operation of the leaky home package will be published shortly. The eligibility criteria are yet to be finalised/published.
