FAQ

What should I do if I have a leaky building?

If you have a leaky building, or suspect that you do the first thing that you should do is register your property with the Weathertight Homes Resolution Service of the Department of Building and Housing. You might not necessarily uses the service, but there are some very tough time limits for making a claim for defective building work and registering your property stops the clock ticking on those time limits. We recommend:
  • That you engage your own building consultant to provide an assessment of the scope of the problem and the cost of repair; and
  • That you seek legal advice on your potential claims against those responsible for the defects.
  • If your home is part of a Body Corporate that you immediately advise your Body Corporate Secretary.
