Michelle graduated BA/LLB in 2006 from Otago University and was admitted in 2007. Michelle has returned to Grimshaw after gaining general litigation experience handling professional indemnity claims for insurers of solicitors, building professionals, accountants and real estate agents. Michelle has also gained experience in conducting sentencing hearings for Health and Safety in Employment and Resource Management prosecutions. As part of her general litigation background Michelle is familiar with employment law and has had involvement in small criminal prosecutions.
Michelle currently specialises in leaky building claims and is involved in all stages of the litigation process. This involves preliminary investigations and advice, drafting proceedings and progressing proceedings through to resolution. Michelle assists with and conducts hearings in the High Court, District Court and Weathertight Homes Tribunal. Michelle has previously had involvement in large multi unit claims and assisted with the preparation for trial of Body Corporate 188529 v North Shore City Council & Ors HC AK CIV 2004-404-3230 [30 April 2008].
